WILL OF REV. WILLIAM HENDON

Second son of Isham Hendon

William Hendon - WILL - Taken from The Will Book 1808 - 1876, page 40, County Clerk's Office, Franklin County, Tennessee.

In the Name of God, Amen - I William Hendon of the County of Franklin and the State of Tennessee, being sick and weakly, but enjoying the right exercise of mind and knowing I am mortal and must die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following:

Item Ist - My will and desire is that all my just debts be paid.

Item 2nd - I hand to my beloved wife Elizabeth Hendon all the rest of my estate, both real and personal during her natural life or widowhood and at either of the above named periods, I desire all equal division to take place if she marries, and equal division between her and all the children if she be dead, an equal division among all my children.

Yet, it is to be understood that my daughters Keziah Herring, Mary Herring, Winney O’kelley, has received One Hundred and Six Dollars each, which is to be considered as part of their proportionate share, but my daughter Winney, being dead, what she received in her life time her husband is welcome to, and the rest of her proportional share be equally divided between her two daughters, to wit: Betsy D. O’kelley and
Criey (Cissy) O’kelley
, and if either of them die before she comes of age to receive her part, I wish that the living one receive the dead one's part, as if they both should be dead before they come of age or receive their portion, my will is that their part be equally divided amongst my own children and last of all I nominate and appoint my wife, Elizabeth Hendon, Executrix, and my sons, William and Abner Hendon, Executors, to this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all other wills heretofore by me made, declaring this and only this to be my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 18th day of January 1822. I, William Hendon, am authorized to assign my
Father’s name.
